Synopsis

Stanford University 2003

Chuck, dressed as Buy More sales staff, walks to a sorority house and calls up for his girlfriend, Jill. She reluctantly comes to the window where he tries to explain what happened when he got expelled. She refuses to talk to him but her roommate tells him she is dating Bryce Larkin.

At the present Buy More, Chuck is sent on a call. He is at a Bioscience conference working on their tech when he sees his former girlfriend, Jill Roberts, arrive and he hides under the desk. She arrives at the desk and asks for tech support; Chuck has to come out and answer her question. They quickly catch up on the five years since they last saw each other but Chuck inflates his accomplishments after he hears that Jill has a PhD. Jill expresses some regret about their past and introduces her boss, Guy LaFleur, who Chuck flashes on. He reports to the team what he saw in his flash and they fear her boss is creating a bioweapon. 

During Chuck’s absence, Big Mike receives the Heimlich from Emmett when he chokes on a doughnut. Now the entire staff must take a life saving class, taught by Devon, and pass the test. Chuck is already certified, ignores the command and leaves. After arriving in Castle, Chuck is ordered to reconnect with Jill to find out what is happening with the bioweapon. Chuck refuses and Sarah must persuade him. Chuck tells Ellie he is taking his ex on a date, Ellie isn’t happy with the news. Chuck takes Jill to a fancy restaurant driving an expensive car he doesn’t know how to operate. The team has taken over the restaurant to help Chuck impersonate the tech mogul he claims to be. Chuck tries to convince Jill he was innocent when she dumped him, Sarah interrupts to tell Chuck to do his job and not try to right past wrongs.

When leaving the restaurant Chuck gets outed by Jeff and Lester, who make it clear Chuck is not who he says he is. She walks off in a huff.

Chuck tells Ellie things didn’t go well with Jill. He visits Casey and Sarah staking out Jill’s hotel in the van but the bug isn’t working and Chuck volunteers to see Jill and replace the bug.

Morgan, Lester and Jeff attempt to steal the CPR test from Devon at the apartment but are caught in the act. Chuck apologises to Jill and explains what happened, she lets him in her room. They have some personal moments that make Chuck have second thoughts about planting the bug. When he goes back to the van Casey is able to turn it on anyway. He tells them that Jill kissed him. Chuck flashes on someone entering the hotel; he’s an assassin going to LaFleur’s room. Casey and Sarah go to save LaFleur but the assassin throws him out the window and he lands on the van while Chuck waits. Before the body hit the van he accidentally interrupts Jill’s phone call and she freaks out.

Casey takes Jill to Castle to ask some questions about her boss. She tells them that Guy discovered an anti virus and his findings are being presented at the conference. Chuck insists Jill can’t be used as bait for the conference so Sarah will take her place.

The CPR test takes place at the Buy More and they all try to cheat off Chuck’s test. Sarah begins the presentation at the conference when she spots someone plant a devise. Casey locks down the room and Sarah chases the terrorist. Casey calls Chuck away to help; find Jill and get the antidote for the toxin. Chuck brings a team and convinces Jill he is a CIA agent and they need to help at the conference. 

Chuck convinces Jill to let him go into the room with the toxin but when he breaks the antidote vial then Jill has to go in to save them. Sarah has chased down the terrorist but has to kill him when he shoots at her. He has CIA identification.

The Buy More team fakes an emergency to coax the correct life saving techniques from Devon while they are taking the test so they can pass.

Chuck and Jill make a triumphant exit from the room and kiss. Sarah sees the kiss. Beckman instructs Casey and Sarah to use Chuck and Jill to discover why a CIA agent is involved. Chuck makes plans with Jill while Sarah listens on surveillance.

• The original title of this episode was Chuck vs the Restraining Order. There is an available script with that title.

• Yvonne Strahovski uses her natural Australian accent in the scene of Eva Anderson lecturing.

• Eva Anderson is the same cover name she uses with Bryce Larkin.

• Guy LaFleur is the name of a NHL hockey player from Quebec.

• Ellie has an ex boyfriend- Doug Wald.

• Chuck has gotten a raise. In season one he was making $11/hr. Now he is making $12.50/hr.

• Ellie clearly shows she likes Sarah more than Jill
