Chuck vs the First Fight

Synopsis

Mary Bartowski is held in Castle and General Beckman tells Casey that the Project Isis file he got is authentic. She tells Sarah she made the right decision by abducting Frost. Sarah is tasked with keeping an eye on Chuck while Frost is transferred to a Black Site facility.

Chuck is in his dad’s secret base with Morgan and rehearsing his speech to Sarah regarding her betrayal of his mom and him. They discuss how they are both having their first fights. Chuck and Sarah as well as Morgan and Casey. Morgan feels betrayed with Casey using him as the magnet.

While looking through Orion’s files and equipment, Morgan brings up the idea that Stephen left something for Ellie too. Chuck goes and asks her about it. He tells her he is still looking for answers.

Chuck goes to Castle, acting casual, while Sarah comes home looking for Chuck and Morgan startles her. Morgan tells her Chuck needs a cool-off period and that he has talked about the fight with him and Ellie.

Chuck visits his mom in Castle, They come up with a plan after she explains the Isis file Casey has. Her story involves deep cover and her joining MI6 where she has a handler. She sends Chuck to meet with her handler, Gregory Tuttle. Chuck will give him a code and they will figure out a plan.

Ellie finds a secret message in the classified ads sent to her from her Dad before he died. She knows he used to send her coded information but she can’t figure out what the car ad is telling her.

Morgan talks to Casey about their relationship and how it felt to be lied to. Chuck asks Morgan to help him with his meeting with Tuttle.

At the bar, Morgan drops his ear piece in his water and goes to dry it off. He misses Tuttle arriving and the two of them  being kidnapped by a woman with other agents and tranq darts.

Chuck awakes on a plane with Tuttle, the woman is a Volkoff agent and they are being kidnapped. She wants to know where Frost is and threatens to torture them.

Morgan goes to Castle and tells Casey and Sarah about Chuck. They confront Frost.

Tuttle and Chuck escape their bonds and subdue the agents then parachute from the plane.

Casey and Sarah get nothing from Frost but Morgan talks to her and convinces her to help them in exchange for seeing Ellie.

Chuck comes to in a truck carrying sheep and explains his fight with Sarah to Tuttle while they go back to LA to help Frost.

Mary goes to see Ellie with Sarah as an escort. They talk about Stephen’s old Mustang and the drives they took. Ellie asks for the truth about what happened and Mary explains. She has to leave but tells Ellie everything they did was for their family.

Frost tells Sarah how to find Chuck. Tuttle and Chuck retrieve a disk from a safety box at a bank. Tuttle tells Chuck it has the information that will clear Mary.

Ellie remembers that the car her mother referred to is the one in the ad from her father. They review the ad and go to find the car.

Chuck, Sarah, Frost and Tuttle meet in the bank. A robbery occurs but it is really Volkoff’s agents. Sarah and Chuck neutralize the agents (while carrying on their fight) but Tuttle is shot. They leave to find the computer that will run the disk from the bank box, Chuck knows it’s the one in Orion’s bunker. Casey and Morgan arrive to find that Tuttle has disappeared.

Chuck takes Frost to his dad’s bunker. She wanders the aisles and removes a device from a file box. After Chuck discovers there is nothing on the disk, Frost uses the device on Chuck. Tuttle arrives and knocks Sarah out then admits he is actually Volkoff.

Chuck is knocked out too. He and Sarah are both tied up. Frost leaves with Volkoff after giving Sarah a razor blade to cut their bonds. She whispers in Sarah’s ear before leaving- “Protect him.” Chuck can’t flash. He knows his mom did something to the intersect.

Sarah cuts their ropes and they escape just as the house blows up.

Ellie and Devon find Stephen’s car and a note he left for her. There is a computer under the seat.

• Per fas et nefas- latin for ‘though right or wrong’.
• Breaking thumbs is a spy thing, Tuttle knows too.
• The parallel story to Chuck and Sarah’s fight is Casey and Morgan.
• Mary runs an effective double-con to protect her family and maintain her cover.
• Chuck is deprogrammed by his mother in order to keep him from coming after her and endangering his life. At the same time, she reminds Ellie of Stephen’s car where a new copy of the Intersect is hidden. Is it for Ellie or for Chuck?
• Stephen doesn’t want his children involved in the spy world but leaves them a copy of the Intersect.
• No Buy More story in this episode. The creative team continues to exclude cast members from episodes because of the budget cuts this season.
