Chuck vs the Suitcase
Season 4 episode 2
Original air date September 27, 2010
Synopsis
In Milan, an operative chases a woman, Sofia Stepanova, who has stolen a clip containing smart bullets. She runs around a corner then kills the operative with one of the smart bullets.
In Burbank, Chuck and Sarah are with Elle, Devon and Morgan for snacks and drinks. Devon is stressing over the baby and Ellie’s pregnancy. Elle tables Devon’s concerns and channels the discussion to the first day back at the Buy More for Chuck and Morgan. When Devon encourages Chuck and Sarah to pay attention to the baby discussion as they could be next, Morgan brings up that Sarah has not unpacked yet.
She and Chuck discuss the issue afterward and Sarah makes excuses. Chuck accepts her explanation.”It’s not weird at all.”
The next day at the Buy More, Chuck talks with Morgan about Sarah not unpacking and admits to being stressed about it. Morgan tells him this could be their achilles heal, the problem that can’t be overcome in their relationship. Morgan introduces himself to the latest Greta, a large and intimidating man.
General Beckman is briefing Team Bartowski and a photo of Sofia in a bikini pops onto the video screen. She is an operative for Volkoff and is involved in his most important weapons deals. Chuck remarks on the photo with admiration, drawing a dirty look from Sarah so he quickly backtracks.
The team, minus Casey (who apparently is sidelined after an incident in the Yves St. Laurent incident), is sent to Milan fashion week to track down the operative and retrieve the bullets. Casey helps prep Chuck and they talk about Casey not being willing to put down roots in Burbank. Chuck tries to suggest Alex could change his attitude but he realizes this is about the Achilles heel theory.

Sarah, dressed in a strapless Versace, spots the model with her purse and Chuck attempts to slip the bullets from her possession but accidentally puts his hand on her bottom instead. When she accuses him of being a pervert he tries to tell her he is with Sarah but instead points to a male stranger (Bronson Pinchot). Sofia leaves but leaves her purse at the bar and as the bartender picks it up to follow her, Chuck and Sarah move in to intercept. After grabbing the purse, Chuck discovers it is rigged with a bomb as Sofia smiles and walks away.
When Chuck pulls out the bomb a switch is triggered and Sarah works to defuse it. Chuck takes that moment to tell Sarah that even though she has not unpacked her suitcase since moving in with him, he still loves her and wants her to know that.
Sarah diffuses the bomb and then questions Chuck’s statement. “You still love me?”
Casey and Morgan are working in the Buy More when Devon asks why everything in the store is super efficient and is Chuck still a spy. They assure him Casey is still using the store as a cover and Chuck is out.
Outside the building, Chuck tries to make up for his mistake but Sarah has none of it and tells him to focus on the mission as she walks away.
Morgan explains to Beckman that the Buy More is too efficient and spies will figure out it is a cover until it gets back to being like itself. She gives him permission to fix it.
Chuck and Sarah break into Sofia’s suite and enter her closet, which is filled with clothes hanging everywhere. Chuck comments that not all spies have unpacking issues, which draws a look and “Thank you for that” comment from Sarah.
While they are searching for the bullets, Sofia enters with her bodyguard (Gerard). Chuck and Sarah hide in the closet as Sofia strips to shower. Her bodyguard attempts to tell her how he feels about her as Chuck searches and Sarah aims to neutralize the bodyguard.
After knocking Gerard out, Sarah returns to the closet to find Sofia has captured Chuck and is naked while holding a gun on him (Sarah- Is she naked? Chuck- Who?). Sarah distracts Sofia and they escape the suite with the bullets that Chuck found in the safe. As they leave, Sofia tries to stop them but Sarah pauses and shoots at her (“Put some clothes on”).
Back in Burbank, Beckman compliments their work but tells them the bullets were fake.
Morgan and Casey find and tranq a reluctant Jeff and Lester, dragging them back to work at the Buy More. Morgan questions Casey about his relationship with his daughter.
Devon overbought for the baby at the Buy More and now Elle will be taking extras back to the store after Devon admits he was overdoing it because Elle doesn’t have her mom.
While discussing their suitcase issue at home, Chuck realizes that Sofia left one dress packed and that is probably where the microchip is for the real bullets.

Back in Milan, Chuck and Sarah are in disguise to steal the dress. After using his tranq gloves to neutralize the door guards, they find the dress but are caught while still searching. Chuck flashes and defeats the security guards but Sarah has to fight Sofia after putting on the dress containing the microchips.
They fight onto the Milan runway and Sarah, bloodied and disheveled, defeats Sofia then retreats down the runway to applause started by Chuck.
In Burbank, we see the bloodied Sarah on the cover of a fashion magazine but she reassures Beckman her cover is not blown. She compliments them again.
Elle goes to the Buy More to return merchandise and Morgan has gotten the old gang back together. They are sufficiently weird to return the environment to normal again. Beckman promotes Morgan to manager after his efforts.
Morgan encourages Casey to act more like he is at home in Burbank. Casey calls Alex to talk to her.
Elle, awake at night and thinking, takes her memory box out of her closet to look at photos of her mom.

Meanwhile, Chuck walks into the bedroom to find that Sarah has unpacked. He also finds a photo of the two of them in her suitcase. She tells him she keeps it with her everywhere she goes. “You’re my home, Chuck. You always have been.” Kissing and snuggling on the bed, Chuck mentions the Achilles heel comment from Morgan. After assuring her they have no Achilles heel, Chuck says he thinks Awesome was right. Marriage and a baby could be their next step. Sarah has a stunned look as he smiles.
Points of Interest
- It appears that two months have elapsed since the time of Anniversary. They were celebrating their six month anniversary of living together and Suitcase specifically mentions that they have been living together for eight months. They also went on a mission involving Yves St. Laurent and stilettos.
- Bronson Pinchot gets guest billing but has a non-speaking cameo.
- Karolina Kurokova plays Sofia and is a real model. Isaiah Mustafa is the male Greta and appeared in Old Spice commercials.
- Casey lies about his relationship with Alex. We see him getting a call from her during their briefing. He is hiding the fact that he is developing ties.
- While Casey is pretending he hasn’t developed a relationship with Alex, Chuck is lying about the suitcase issue bothering him and Elle is hiding that she does miss her mom.
- The photo in Sarah’s suitcase is from season 2- Chuck vs the Seduction. Sarah has had it with her since then.
- The Achilles heel is real. Sarah has commitment issues but they aren’t fatal, just very time consuming.
